The Mission of Mangundze, supported by the Carlos Morgado Foundation, transforms a ruin into a multipurpose court for the benefit of the community.
Father Juan Gabriel Arias of the Mangundze Mission, in a very characteristic of his - "thinking outside the box," looked at one of the ruins that he had on the mission and reflected:
four walls, sufficient size (27m x 14m), lacking sports infrastructure in Mangundze =
multipurpose sports court!!He, an avid supporter of Racing Club de Avellaneda of Argentina, has put his energies into something that will benefit the community: a recreational space. The Carlos Morgado Foundation is proud to once again support a social impact project in partnership with the Mission of Mangundze.
The work began two months ago, and will continue until the end of 2016. A mason has been contracted for the technical tasks, but all other work is being done voluntarily by the players of the local team. This work includes cleaning the ruin, demolition and landfill. The court will be equipped in the first phase with the necessary equipment for: football, basketball and volleyball.
Now it is only to hope that this infrastructure can produce some talented Mozambican athletes, physically and spiritually.
