Carlos Morgado was distinguished, on 28 July 2016, by the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA), posthumously with the Formiga(ant) Prize.
The Formiga Prize was established by the CTA to distinguish personalities who, during the course of the Annual Private Sector Conferences (CASPs), have made a great contribution to the improvement of the business environment in Mozambique.
For the present year, CTA decided to reward Eng. Morgado, a figure who played a key and fundamental role in promoting the Private Sector in our country, and was distinguished by its openness and dedication in solving the problems that affected the Business.
Speaking during the celebration of the CTA's 20th anniversary, the Association's president, Rogério Manuel, classified Carlos Morgado as a man who made the Confederation of Mozambican Economic Associations his own home, where he held meetings for several times and worked for the Resolution of the problems that beset the national business.
"This man understood that the Private Sector is the engine of any market economy. Eng. Morgado was an activist of business association and promoter of an expedited, healthy and structured dialogue between the Private Sector and the Government, which in our opinion marked in an indelible way the relationship between the Government and the CTA ", affirmed Rogério Manuel.
Bruno Morgado, the son of Eng. Carlos Morgado, received from the hands of Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic, the prize posthumously dedicated to his father.
Carlos Morgado was Minister of Industry and Commerce during the Government of Joaquim Chissano, a position he held until February 2005. In this capacity he was designated the Government's focal point for Private Sector affairs.
Carlos Alberto Sampaio Morgado, lost his life on February 15, 2007, in Lisbon, Portugal, a victim of illness.
