Carlos Morgado Foundation successfully completes the installation of Solar Giraffe in Ntessa, District of Metuge, Province of Cabo Delgado.
The community of Saul 2, a resettlement neighborhood following the armed conflict, which does not have access to energy from the national electricity grid, now relies on a Solar Giraffe to charge cell phones, listen to the radio and have access to public lighting.
The installation, sponsored by the The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives, took place between the 1st and 2nd of December and had the support of five (5) members of the community.
The project is developed and implemented by the Carlos Morgado Foundation, in partnership with MWE - Mozambique Women of Energy and with local support from Aga Khan Foundation. The Solar Giraffe now has 8 installations across the country, with the pilot project being installed in Mangunze, Chongoene District, Gaza Province, in December 2020.
In this installation, as in all, the project donates the remaining equipment and materials, but in addition to these donations, the Carlos Morgado Foundation also donated teaching and leisure items to the community.
