Carlos Morgado Foundation successfully completes the installation of Solar Giraffe in Namau, District of Metuge, Province of Cabo Delgado.
The community of Namau, located on the coast of Pemba Bay, which does not have access to energy from the national electricity grid, and when it rains they become isolated, now relies on a Solar Giraffe to charge cell phones, listen to the radio and have access to public lighting.
At this location, Girafa Solar supplied energy for lighting to the primary school that is close to the installation and with this circumstance, the school will have, for the first time, two night shifts for adults.
The installation, financed by the Government of England, took place between the 30th of November and the 1st of December and had the support of five (5) members of the community.
The project is developed and implemented by the Carlos Morgado Foundation, in partnership with MWE - Mozambique Women of Energy, and installed its pilot project in Mangunze, Chongoene, Gaza in December 2020.
