Round 7 of the “All Girls” basketball tournament had the participation of the Carlos Morgado Foundation and AMER – Mozambican Renewable Energy Association.
Organized by Still Standing with sponsorship from ExxonMobil and held at the Aga Khan Academy Maputo in Matola City on the 28th of September, the event was attended by more than 100 teenagers, all girls, between 12 and 14 years old, residents of neighborhoods nearby.
In addition to the games held, the event included other sessions, such as “Limbondo” II Dance Class, Sexual Orientation, Sexual and Gender Identity and ABC of Renewable Energy.
This last session was led by AMER – Mozambican Association of Renewable Energies and presented the fundamentals of renewable energies, their capabilities, potential and challenges. The Carlos Morgado Foundation was responsible for presenting the Solar Giraffe project and demonstrating live, with complete solar equipment, the detailed operation of the system.
Among several moments of amazement, magic and fun, the most important highlight is the discussion, debate and exchange of experiences between the presenters and the teenagers.
Hoping that teenagers have become fascinated by renewable energy, the two organizations remain available for future opportunities.
